The Crystal Dolphin (part 3)

"Nathan was happy.
He was sitting next to the little window of the airplane, and also admiring the cloud's carpet under the airplane.
The sky was extremely blue like a swimming pool. Suddenly, the boy started to wonder how would it be if some fish could swim on that sky, like it was ocean. He imagined if they would jump, if they would be chased by starving dolphins and sharks. It was a funny scene in his head.
- Did you know that your uncle Ricardo is a lawyer, Nathan?
He looked at his father, who was sitting on the seat on the corridor's side.
- Yes - he said - But how does he work, exactly?
- He is hired by people who want to defend themselves before Justice - Paulo explained - He argues with the Judge about the reasons why his client is innocent.
- And who can hire lawyers, daddy?
- Anyone - he said - If a person is going to be judged, he or her has the right to ask for a lawyer.
- But what if it's a robber, daddy? - Nathan questioned, with creased brow - He will be lying, because he actually did a bad thing. He is not innocent.
- Even so, he can ask for a lawyer.
- But it's not fair - the boy protested - A robber does bad things. How can you defend someone who is wrong?
- Listen to your father, Nathan - Soraya intervened - He knows more than you.
Paulo leaned his head back on the seat and closed his eyes. Nathan got angry. His father said something that didn't make sense to him. A robber does bad things and must go to the jail. A lawyer should defend good people. It seemed to be a difficult job. Nathan wanted to ask uncle Ricardo later about why he had chosen this profession. He was his mother's older brother, so she might knew something about it.
The pilot's voice said that they were getting close to their destination. Nathan stretched his legs. His eleventh birthday would be at the house of his favorite uncle. Uncle Bruno lived in a city called Natal. It was a warm city full of beaches, and Nathan's cousins lived there, Taísa and Renata. And there was also their dog, Lumus, a Golden Retriever. Nathan was in love with that dog.
Suddenly, Nathan felt pain on his right hand. Soraya had grabbed his hand and was pressing it very strongly. He tried to free his hand, but he couldn't. He looked at the little window and noticed that there was a lot of clouds around the airplane. He saw some drops running along the reinforced glass, and suddenly the sky vanished. The airplane was entering a big and grey cloud. Nathan noticed that the airplane started to suffer some turbulence. His father stayed with his eyes closed, but his mother pressed his hand with more force. She closed her eyes, and started to breathe like an asmatic person.
- Mommy - he said - What's wrong?
She didn't answer. She didn't even move.
- Are you afraid? - he asked.
Soraya forced herself to open her eyes. Her whole body was tensed. She felt like there was nothing between her and the distance she was from the ground. She shouldn't be afraid. She didn't want Nathan to be afraid because of her. But she was afraid. Suddenly, she noticed that the boy had leaned his head on her arm and used his free hand to cover hers.
- You don't need to be afraid - he said - We're almost arriving.
She didn't know what to say, so she just stayed in silence. She hugged her son while the airplane was getting out of the big cloud and starting to descend."

The Crystal Dolphin (part 2)

"- Mom, when are we going to see uncle Bruno? - Nathan asked.
Soraya was sitting on the couch with her temples throbbing because of the heat. The humidity was low, and because of that she had spread a few bowls of water around the apartment. She remembered to ignore the fact that Nathan hit one of them and now the carpet was wet.
- Tomorrow - she answered, inviting the boy to sit by her side - And we will celebrate your birthday on the beach.
He smiled.
- Will Taísa and Renata be there, too? - he asked about his cousins.
- They live there, Nath - she said - They will be there everyday.
The boy went quiet, lying on Soraya's lap.
- Do you know what that means? - she asked.
- What?
- It means that you're growing - she said - And that's a good thing.
Nathan smiled, but soon the smile faded from his face.
- Did daddy say the truth? - he asked with a serious face - When I broke his dolphin? Does he really think that I'm a bastardo?
Soraya felt herself powerless. How would she explain to her son that Paulo didn't mean that? He was just angry. That dolphin was really important, but Nathan didn't know that.
- He didn't mean that - she explained - It's not true.
- Oh - he said, but he didn't seem to be more relaxed about it.
- Be careful, son - she warned him - You don't even wonder the value of some objects in our apartment.
- I won't break them - he said, turning to the other side.
The mother smiled and turned to cuddle his head, sliding her fingers along the thick and black streads of his hair."

The Crystal Dolphin (part 1)

...
"- Bastardo! - Paulo screamed.
Nathan would remember for the rest of his life the first time he heard a bad name in Italian.
He was seven years old. He was walking around the house, unconcerned. On that day, his dark hair was uncombed. His red T-shirt had a little stain on the collar and he was walking only with socks, though he knew it would irritate his mother, because she would have to wash them later.
His reckless little hands led him to get a crystal dolphin he saw over his father's papers. The garnish was translucent and heavy, and it had  a lot of small and perfect details. Nathan ran his fingers along each flipper, along the tail, feeling the gaps and the smooth surface just like his skin under the water of the tub. Nathan was going to put the dolphin back where he found it, over the papers. However, the table was higher than he thought, and his elbow hit the corner of the table. His reckless little hands didn't follow the move, and he let the dolphin fall.
When he saw the crystal shards scattered on the ground, his first reaction was to panic. He didn't want to break it. Suddenly, his father appeared and asked what was that noise, and then the boy heard him scream a bad name in Italian. For him. He didn't know what to do. He was afraid to run and get beaten later. His mother came into the living room.
- What happened?
Paulo didn't answer her immediately. He pulled the child away and started to pick up the crystal shards. Some of them cut his hands and got red, but he didn't seem to notice.
- Nathan, what have you done? - she asked.
The boy joined his own hands together and lowered his head. His dad was angry, and that meant that he had done a very bad thing.
- He broke it, Soraya - Paulo said.
- Broke what?
- The dolphin - he said.
There was something really disturbing in his father's eyes. The woman looked at the crystal shards, then to her son with his head lowered.
- Go to your bedroom - she said, looking to him - Go.
He didn't raise his head to look at her. He went to his bedroom, laid on the bed and grabbed his knees."

O Jogo do Amor

"Sorte no jogo,
azar no amor
  de que me serve
sorte no amor
se o amor é um jogo
e o jogo não é meu forte,
  meu amor?"
(Paulo Leminski)
...
Talvez o amor seja mesmo um jogo. A grande questão é - será que eu quero jogar?

The Normal Heart

Pega a oportunidade, pega!
Cabe a nós encontrar a melhor oportunidade!
Peguemos a oportunidade. Antes que ela passe e vá embora.

Saber

"Soubesse que era assim
não tinha nascido
e nunca teria sabido

Ninguém nasce sabendo
até que eu sou meio esquecido
mas disso eu sempre me lembro"
(Paulo Leminski)
...
Ah, Paulo. Quem dera nós pudéssemos nascer sabendo das coisas.

Ender's Game

Eis o resultado.
"Capacetes, coletes
Uniformes oficiais
Gravidade
Vácuo
Satélites Espaciais.
Equipamentos
Computadores
Lasers e escudos
Jogo, combate
Astronautas e abelhudos
Ordem e domínio
Jogo de Extermínio"
(Miriade)
...
Bom, tentei. Tinha acabado de terminar o capítulo do livro, então a inspiração veio.

Diga a mentira, toda a mentira, somente a mentira, nada mais que a mentira!

"Não te amo mais!
Estarei mentindo dizendo que
Ainda te quero como sempre quis!
Tenho certeza que
Nada foi em vão.
Sinto dentro de mim que
Você não significa nada
Não poderia dizer jamais que
Alimento um grande amor
Sinto cada vez mais que
Já te esqueci!
E jamais usarei a frase
Eu te amo!
Sinto, mas tenho que dizer a verdade
É tarde demais..."
(Clarice Lispector)

Essa é para os amantes do mundo.
HAHA! Primeiro de Abril. Leia de baixo para cima <3
